Rebecca Ryan Mitchell
Director of Children's Ministry
Education: I received a degree from Centenary College in Christian Education and a BA in Business.
Family: Married to my wonderful husband Bill (who coaches football & baseball, and teaches Science at St. Amant High School) and a beautiful daughter, Becca (22), who is a senior at Louisiana Tech.
Interests: I enjoy reading, cooking, working in the yard, watching sporting events (baseball & football) working & playing with children, and spending time with my family.
Movies/Books: I love to read, especially novels by James Patterson, John Grisham, Nicholas Sparks & Karen Kingsbury.
Favorite movies: The Way We Were, Pretty Woman, Fried Green Tomatoes & Steel Magnolias.
Children are an important part of our lives here at First United Methodist Church. Through a variety of means, we build relationships with our children, help them learn about Jesus, and help them care for others. We have a loving nursery for children through age five during all worship services and special events. I look forward to meeting you and working with you and your children.

Becky Poor
Director of Christian Education
Education: I received a BA in Speech Education from McNeese State University.
Family: My wonderful husband, David, and I have two children, Ali (8 years old) and Michael (6 years old). We have a dog, Maggie, and a fish, Ducky.
Interests: I enjoy playing tennis, reading, playing with children, drama, dancing. . . any thing or sport with physical activity!
Movies & Books: Rudy, Sound of Music, Wizard of Oz, and all scary movies interest me. I have enjoyed reading the Harry Potter series and Anne of Green Gables.
I love people - I can't think of another place where I could meet so many others! Our church supports my time as "Mom" as well as church education. That's extremely important to me.

George Ragsdale
Director of Youth Ministry
Education: I have a BA in Physical Education and Christian Education from McMurry College.
Family: My wife, Jana, and I have been married for 18 years and have two children, Zac (8) and Jake (3).
Interests: I love baseball. Other things I like: skiing, outdoor sports, hunting, fishing, and hanging out with my kids.
Favorite Movie: I am a big fan of Star Wars. I also like movies that make me laugh.
I am a youth pastor because teenagers need adults who care about them and who are not too busy to hang out, laugh, and be interested in their world. |

We are a class "A" licensed facility, with a full day nursery, pre-school, and kindergarten program. ELC, founded in 1969, is a non-profit ministry of the First United Methodist Church. Qualified early childhood professionals prepare the environment for endless challenging activities in which each child is an active participant.
