Lamar Drummonds

Director of Music and Worship

Education: I received a BM in Sacred Music, and a MM Choral Conducting from University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

Interests: I enjoy playing with my Beagle, Toby.

Movies & Books: Shawshank Redemption, and A Beautiful Mind, are two of my favorite movies. Pillars of Earth, by Ken Follett is my favorite book.

 

Cherri Johnson
Director of Spiritual Formation

Education: I received a BS in Education from Louisiana State University. I have been certified as a Spiritual Director through the Louisiana Methodist Conference Academy for Spiritual Leadership. I now serve as faculty for the Spiritual Direction Training Program, Louisiana Conference. I am currently enrolled in advanced studies in Spiritual Formation and Spiritual Direction at Garrett Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois.  I am also a Louisiana Regional Coordinator for Spiritual Directors International.

 

Family: My husband, Clay, and I have two wonderful, adult children, Mary Clayton and Cole.

Interests: I have a love for books and the arts. I am a liturgical dancer and workshop leader in sacred movement. I enjoy nature, boating, hiking and yoga. I love good food and spending time with family and friends.

Spiritual Formation/Spiritual Direction is my joy, calling and passion.

 

Sandra King
Director of Care Ministries

Job: As the Director of Care Ministries I visit homebound members, nursing centers, retirement centers, and hospitals.

Education: I received a BS from the University of Alabama.

Family: My husband, Jim King, is DC manager of the Scooter Store. We have two sons, Spencer, who is a chef in Colorado, and Adam, a senior at LSU. We also have a dog, Scoodreaux, an English Springer Spaniel.

Interests: I love to work crossword puzzles.

Movies and Books:  I enjoy Lord of the Rings - 1, 2, & 3

My position is a ministry not a job; the elderly need to know they are loved and cared for by our church. I have a real passion for this.

 

Paula Mercer


Congregational Nurse, RN, CRRN

Education: I received a BS in Nursing from Southeastern Louisiana University.

Family: My husband, Tim Mercer, a teacher for special education children, and I have three children, Zane, Catharine, and Victoria.

Interests: I enjoy cooking, sewing, gardening, and raising chickens.

Music & Books: I love music by Jimmy Buffett, and my favorite movie is It's A Wonderful Life.

God called me to Parish Nursing, and First Methodist welcomed me with open arms.
