The Youth Ministry
The Youth Ministry of First United Methodist Church is designed to provide an environment in which youth (grades 6-12) can have fun and grow in Christian love and commitment. FUMC provides numerous activities, events and small groups to give youth a chance to learn, grow, strengthen their faith, and make friends. The youth program is under the direction of George Ragsdale. 

FUMC’s Youth Ministry provides activities on Sunday morning, Sunday evening, during the school week, and a large number of trips, retreats, and camps throughout the year. Our Youth Department ministers over 200 youth and their families. Numerous Youth gather every week to be a part of this very special program. Committed adults and parents give their time and talents to provide excellent leadership and guidance for our young people. 

FUMC’s Youth Ministry falls in three areas:  our 6th grade confirmation program under the leadership of Rev. Mike Hammett, our middle school ministry for 7th & 8th graders, and our high school ministry for 9th – 12th graders.

Confirmation (6th Grade)
Our sixth grade confirmation class is a complete youth program for youth during their sixth grade year, and their families.  It includes our Sunday morning class sessions and over 40 other special events – including monthly socials, field trips to faith communities, mission trips, two retreats and two worship services.

Middle School Ministry (7th & 8th Grades)
Our ministry to middle school youth includes Sunday School on Sunday mornings, Sunday Night, and special events and trips.

7th & 8th Graders each have their own Sunday School classes.  They gather in our large meeting room equipped with the video games, pool tables, foosball, donuts and soft drinks at 9:30 a.m. in the Youth Room on the second floor of the Youth Building.  They then break into their own classes. 

Each Sunday Night at 5:15 p.m., mid-school gathers for a snack supper, hang-out time, and games.  This is followed by lessons, and worship.

In addition, our middle school ministry provides regular special events.  These include a Summer Mission Trip, Summer Fun Trip, All-Nighter, and several other activities.

High School Ministry (9th-12th Grades)
Our ministry to high school youth includes Sunday School on Sunday mornings, Sunday Night Life, bible studies, and special events.

9th, 10th, 11th, & 12th  Graders each have their own Sunday School classes.  Our game room is stocked with the latest video games, pool tables, internet café, and espresso machine.  The groups meet together for announcements and video highlights of FUMC students.  Following announcements, the students separate according to grade level into their own classes. 

Sunday Night Life for the high school students is highlighted by a snack supper, followed by an evening of games, lessons, worship and excitement.   

In addition, our high school ministry provides a weekly bible study opportunity, activities on Sunday afternoons, and regular special events.  These include a Summer Mission Trip, Wilderness Adventure, Summer Fun Trip, All-Nighter, and many other activities.
