  • Children's Ministry Contact Information:
For more information on the Children's Ministry at FUMC, children's events, or if you would like to serve on the Children's Council please contact Rebecca Mitchell, Director of Children's Ministry, at 225-383-4777, ext 239 or rebecca@firstmethodist.org or Candace Kouns, President of Children's Council, at 978-7070 and candacekouns@cox.net.
  • Children's Council:
Members of the Children's Council serve a three-year term. The Children's Council meets on the second Wednesday of each month, 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, to implement children's ministry. The Children's Council is a very active, hands-on ministry with each council member serving as a chairperson of one of the seasonal activities we offer for our children.
  • Acolytes:
FUMC worship services are led by a team of acolytes each week. The acolytes are children who have undergone a training class. The acolytes bring the “Light of Christ” into our worship service and light the candles. The acolytes remind us that each of us is called to carry the “Light of Christ” out into the world as they symbolically leave with their wands lit. Any child in 4th grade or 5th is invited to attend acolyte training and become a part of this very special ministry.
  • Children's Library:
Located on the 2nd floor of the Children’s Center, this library is filled with quality literature for children of all ages.  All books are available for check-out.  Open on Sundays from 9:40-10:30 a.m. or by appointment. Questions?  Contact becky@firstmethodist.org for assistance.
