Each Sunday morning from 9:40 a.m. to 10:40 a.m. people of all ages gather to learn together about growing as disciples by studying the Bible and supporting and praying for one another.

Sunday School provides many benefits for us and our families. Each of us has a need to belong and to know others. Knowing people long-term gives us a sense of connection and community. Through Sunday School we are challenged to grow as Christians and to continue in the development of our faith. 

Aldersgate (35+) A.B. - 106

Using a variety of materials this class engages in lively discussion of the day’s lesson as they wrestle with the scripture and what it means for Christians today. The group supports a number of mission projects and missionaries.

Colloquium (40’s to 50’s - Young as You Feel) A.B. - 113

Enjoys special topics, as well as series, which relate scripture to life in the world today. Emphasizes Christian growth through Sunday School and numerous social events.

Community (30’s – 40’s) Ory Parish Hall

Gathering in Christ’s name, this group seeks to grow spiritually in relationship with God and neighbor. The class uses a variety of resources and approaches to encourage class discussion, apply Christian principles to life situations and deepen personal faith. Christian community is enhanced with small groups, prayer, socials and mission projects.

Connections (25-40's, Single) A.B. - 108

Studying a variety of topics important to young adults, the group centers its discussion-style lessons primarily on scripture as a guide for daily living. Members have regular social events and mission projects.

Cornerstone (30-40’s) S.B. - L10

Discussion-based class that studies scripture and topics of interest from a very practical “what does this mean for how I am to live” standpoint. Through various fellowship gatherings, care ministries, and mission projects, the group supports one another and reaches out into the world.

Covenant (All Ages) A.B. - 115

Focuses on Bible study using a variety of curriculum with a lecture/discussion format. This class is mission oriented supporting numerous projects monetarily and with hours worked. Fellowship includes an annual spring crawfish boil and a Christmas party.

Good News (All Ages) Aldrich Chapel

Lecture and discussion on topical studies, seasonal studies and Bible study concentrating on books of the Bible, as well as prominent biblical personalities.

  

Half-Past Niners (Mature Singles) A.B. - 110

Using the Adult Bible Studies, lessons are based on scripture and address personal issues of living out one’s faith, as well as social concerns of our day. Members enjoy occasional dinners together and are involved in the support of missions.

Keystone (30-40s) S.B. - L08

Strives to increase biblical knowledge and spiritual discipline through Bible studies on numerous topics as well as addressing current issues from a Christian perspective. This is combined with a mix of service projects and social gatherings.

Kingdom Seekers (College, 18-25) A.B. - 105

Coming from a variety of places, the group enjoys experiencing God’s love together while at school. All are welcome to join as members discover what God is going to teach them about living life to its fullness.

Kum Dubl (“Jazzy” Older Adults) S.B. - L02

Studies God’s word and enjoys Christian fellowship. They use the Adult Bible Studies to help members study the meaning and authority of the Bible for “everyday” Christian life.

Men’s Bible (All Ages) A.B. - 118

Discussion and examination of the details and events recorded in the Bible using the Adult Bible Studies as their guide. The group provides Bibles for the children of the church.

Milestone (25 – 35) S.B. - L12

A class for those newly married or about-to-be married. Discussion-based with opportunities for fellowship and service to the community.

Rings ‘n’ Ivy (50+) S.B. - L04

Studies vary between religious and secular topics led by members of the class and a variety of guest speakers. Members enjoy fellowship through study together and frequent social gatherings.

The Seekers (Mixed Ages) A.B. - 107

Using a variety of biblically based material, the group concentrates on faith application for today. Lively discussions and frequent fellowships and mission projects are part of the mix for this group with diverse backgrounds and ages.

Sisters in Spirit (Mixed Ages All Women Library)

Meeting the needs of women, they focus on bible study, and womens issues. 

Telephone Class (At Home Members)

Members who are unable to come to church participate in Bible study by conference call.

  

Tharseon (Older Adults) Behind Aldrich Chapel

Using the Adult Bible Studies for their studies on Sunday mornings, the group has strong ties in fellowship, music, celebration and support of First Church. Class members gather to enjoy food and fellowship throughout the year.

Wedding Ring (Retired Adults) A.B. - 112

Chooses a variety of studies and curriculum ranging from current topics to in-depth study of scripture. The class shares in potluck suppers on a regular basis.

Wesley Fellowship (45 – 55) A.B. - 117

Supports one another through active prayer and caring in the spiritual journey that God has called each of his children to make. The class uses a variety of resources and teaching styles to undergird and empower members to live as disciples of Christ. Throughout the year the group enjoys opportunities for fellowship through various socials and mission projects.
